How to Tell if You Need Crawlspace Repair

As our name states, we at Dogwood Crawlspaces have extensive experience in working on crawlspaces, and we are here to help you keep yours in great shape. If anything is wrong with your crawlspace, you can turn to our team to get the effective repair services you need. In this article, we’ll go over a few ways to tell if you need crawlspace repair—if you notice any of the following things happening to your home, we encourage you to give us a call.

Flooded crawl space with standing water beneath exposed plumbing and floor joists, highlighting severe moisture intrusion that can lead to structural damage, mold growth, and poor indoor air quality.

  • High Indoor Humidity – One sign you may need crawlspace repair is excessive humidity inside your home. Your HVAC system is supposed to remove excess moisture from your indoor air, so if the air in your home starts to feel damp, there’s clearly a problem somewhere. A great deal of moisture rises up from the ground and into your crawlspace, and then it can easily enter your home. If you notice your home seems more humid than it’s supposed to be, we recommend you get your crawlspace checked.
    • Floor Joist Problems – Another clear sign something is wrong with your crawlspace is rotten or weakening floor joists. As moisture rises up from the ground, it becomes trapped in your crawlspace and will gather on the underside of your subfloor, eventually causing it to rot. If your floor no longer feels firm and stable under your feet, you should have your crawlspace checked a soon as possible.
    • High Energy Bills – A third way to tell if you might need crawlspace repair is to pay attention to any changes in your energy bills. If you seem to be spending more on energy without having changed anything about your habits, the cause of the issue might be failing or insufficient insulation in your crawlspace.

    What Our Clients say

“Guys did a tremendous job. Moisture was significant. Got it dried out, cleaned, and new insulation installed with vapor barrier. No one enjoys spending money on an area that you don’t live in but I thought it was fairly priced for the work that was done. Highly recommend. Pics are the before and after.”

    Mike E.

“Thomas was great to work with and does super quality work using the best materials. I looked into a lot of other crawlspace vapor barrier and encapsulation companies and Dogwood Crawlspaces was the best that I found and at a reasonable price too. Thanks Thomas for giving my wife and I great peace of mind with a really nice sealed crawlspace and Aprilaire whole house dehumidifier. You’re awesome!”

    William Lambert

“Thomas is extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his assessment to determine the underlying issue in our crawl space. He returned my call quickly and showed up the next day without applying any uncomfortable sales pressure. A true professional!”
